Ricardo Barros
I'm Ricardo, a piano teacher with 25 years of teaching, preparing, and registering students for the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) graded exams, and Trinity-Guildhall programs in the UK. I am an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, hold a Doctor of Music title, and also specialize in harpsichord, chamber music, vocal coaching (accompaniment), and opera staging.
I'm an educator who is passionate about teaching, and who relocated to Italy in November 2024. I also teach sporadically at Trinity College of Music (London), the Utrecht Conservatory (Netherlands), and the Hochschule fur Musik Würzburg (Germany), among other courses in France, Portugal, England, and Germany.
With over 25 years of experience, I am passionate about teaching and foster a creative and respectful relationship between teacher and student. In my teaching, I draw on my diverse artistic background and extensive experience, offering a comprehensive outlook on the artistic, social, and historical context surrounding the repertoire I teach.
My triple nationality (Brazilian, Portuguese, and British) reflects a rich background and a wide range of influences, which manifest themselves in my creative output.
I offer piano, harpsichord (in Italian or English), and music theory lessons (in English). I teach both the prestigious ABRSM and Trinity-Laban programs: I prepare and enrol my students for online digital exams.
But if you prefer to learn for pleasure, that's also possible!

I also offer accompaniment and coaching for singers (early music, classical music, and musical theatre).

Lessons can be held in Frugarolo, AL, in a splendid music room with two magnificent instruments: a Yamaha G5 grand piano and a French double-keyboard harpsichord (as well as a clavichord and a 19th-century square piano), or at your home. The hourly rate is €25 (with a €5 surcharge for each lesson at your domicile).
